Hi, I’m Gemma — the photographer behind Six Ravens Photography.
I’ve been photographing people and their stories for around 12 years here in the North East. After photographing weddings, events and families over the years, Six Ravens became my way of creating work that finally feels completely authentic to me.
I’m drawn to the moments in between, documentary photography is about capturing the moments that happen when you’re not thinking about the camera.
The glances. The movement. The laughter that turns into something completely unplanned. The messy, quiet, imperfect moments that actually feel like you.
I’m not here to force you into stiff poses or create something that doesn’t feel natural. I’ll gently guide you when you need it, but mostly I want you to forget I’m there — to move, laugh, hold each other, explore and simply exist in the moment.
Because years from now, I don’t just want you to remember what everything looked like.
I want you to remember how it felt.

My work is dark, natural and a little magical, inspired by woodland, changing seasons, beautiful light and the stories hidden inside ordinary moments.
As a mam myself, I know real life rarely goes according to plan. My sessions are relaxed, with room to move, explore, laugh and simply be yourselves.
You don't need to know how to pose.
You don't need perfectly behaved children.
You just need to turn up as you are.
Because the photographs that mean the most aren't always the perfect ones.
They're the ones that feel like you.
